worth the click vol. 1: seize your winners by the coconuts πŸ₯₯

I used to do this on and off, so I’m starting over again from #1. ✨ It’s a mix of links, quotes, tips, ideas, etc. for your life + blog.

I’m currently dealing with a TMJ flare-up that seems to worsen when I’m tired or eat food when it’s too hot/warm and went 1.5ish days without ibuprofen. πŸ’€

Separating everything…that’s not sustainable for me. Monotropism is all I have to explain why I so easily get caught up in doing 1-3 things at once, why my brain zeroes in.

Plus, I have DID and my brain compartmentalizes, but practices functional multiplicity. (Here’s a YouTube video about it by two DID systems that I semi-watched; maybe I’ll make a video on it one day, since there aren’t any videos directly addressing it BY people with DID not tied to, uh, certain controversy.)

I went from being fine with being myself as a blogger to feeling the pressure to be different things for everyone while having a newsletter and winded up hating myself/what I was doing in the process.

Like, “Wait. What am I doing? Why am I doing this? This isn’t anything like me at all.”

I’m saying this because, if you’re new here, or I didn’t properly make this clear before, I tend to be really transparent. It’s my whole “thing”. I do it well, and…πŸ€” why “fix” what wasn’t broken to begin with?

helpful things in my life right now ✨

Alexa bedtime routine for my cat: At 1:30am, my Echo Dot says, “Goodnight, Galaxy. Sweet dreams.” and starts playing Sleep Sounds: Orchestra at 1:30am.

Tuesday night, it didn’t, and Galaxy sat up from her laying down position, looked at me and meowed at 1:31am. πŸ‘€ I tried changing the time, but then I saw the β–Ά next to each routine in the Alexa app. It instantly plays that routine.

I go to the food pantry & sometimes the salad kits aren’t fresh (I don’t do other fresh veggies, okay) sooo I get one anyways β€” and use the cheese + dressing + some chicken to make a “chicken salad” that I can put on bread. It really slaps (is that still a valid term?) with naan.

⚑ When the salad kits are fresh, though, I do eat the salad…with naan. Or I use the lettuce in grilled cheese?? I tried this once out of curiosity & it was delish.

I went to the library and checked out three books (there’s a 200-books-at-once limit), one being Princess Jellyfish, Volume 1, and I’m hoping to get back into reading. I used to read 50+ books a year and am on 10/24 books this year. 😬

Did you know a library card gets you access to more than mere books? Some local libraries have perks, like loaning books from other libraries via your preferred one.

The Peoria, IL library has loads of perks, even a pick up/drop off system and discounted passes to museums/activity centers.

Check with your local library to see what perks they offer 😊 Some local libraries have rooms you can reserve for book clubs/meetings/etc. and/or host activity events throughout the month for you to go in and do while getting to know people in your community.

things that made me go πŸ€”πŸ§

The speculum was invented and used as a torture device by a [cis] man with ties to slavery. I thought it was simply modeled after a pterodactyl.

Walmart buckled down on ordering on minimum order fees without the bare minimum via W+…but sometimes you can escape it if you order after midnight OR buy certain foods and your cart is less than $15.

The W+ maths is so mind-boggling, but like sometimes I only need 1-2 things and my car doesn’t work. Oh β€” start your order with food (I do one banana), or else the “trick” doesn’t work.

AI uses a tremendous amount of water to ensure servers don’t overheat and is extremely bad for the environment.

My friend Lou Koz commented a post on my [personal] Facebook profile encouraging identity-first language: Some autistic people refer to themselves as “person with autism”. Why do you think that could be? πŸ”— I turned it into a post πŸ‘‰

This journal on dissociative identity disorder (DID). What instigated my consideration for a DID Dx was me describing my experience as “not wanting to die, but wanting to find or make a zipper so I can get out of this body that’s not mine and stop watching from afar while someone else does everything”.

That’s an indirect way to describe my self-harm days…and possibly a direct description of the out-of-body experiences DID brings. The treatment/management part of the journal is ehhh.

Brands might not even care about how many views you have. It’s all about their goals. I love the campaigns where they want me to create similar content as what I created for another brand, for them to use themselves. πŸ˜… Because then, it does matter if their product is a good fit for my audience β€” only my skills do. πŸ’…

This food blogger’s monthly challenge looks like a fantastic, unique sponsor opportunity for brands seeking awareness. 😏

How I’d do it: A blog with DIYs/recipes challenging the audience to make a recipe and/or DIY for a prize. Part of the sponsorship payment = gift card, or they mail out a box of goodies. If the latter, I’d have a fallback for people outside the countries they ship to.

Bloggers usually don’t often have “alternate” prizes for “international” winners OR usually restrict winners to the countries the prizes may be shipped to, even though this is the internet (not America, where winners are usually restricted to be located in).

How this *might* work for B2B: Challenge your audience to do something with a software/tool you’re an affiliate for, e.g. to set up their email list + recommend (not require) the software they use. Maximize earnings potential by being an affiliate for similar tools. Or pitch the sponsorship to highlight one tool out of all the rest. πŸ’…

Seize your gems by the coconuts. Pay attention to what content performs well and create more of it. Or repurpose/use it again. If a vertical video went viral 3 months ago, re-post it again to reach a wider audience/remind people of your existence. πŸ’Ž
